CrossRoads Harley-Davidson Monthly Newsletter

May 2013 Newsletter
Dear CrossRoads Harley-Davidson® Family;
The weather is warming up and CrossRoads Harley-Davidson events are revving up! We are happy to announce the date for our 11th Annual Night of Fire will be June 29th!! Put it on your calendars TODAY!! We are having a Pre-Myrtle Beach Party on Mother’s Day weekend – May 11th, and are adding more events to our calendar every week.
We are kicking everything off with an event and cause the Staff of CrossRoads Harley-Davidson believes in whole-heartedly and hoped that our CrossRoads H-D® Family will come out in FULL FORCE THIS SATURDAY to show support to our veterans and at the 5th Annual Combat Veteran’s Benefit Ride! The Combat Veteran’s Motorcycle Association has set a goal of 700 bikes and we are going to help this reach it. This amazing organization is a group of combat wounded veterans that uses ALL of the proceeds from the ride to help other veterans in need throughout the year.
Registration will begin with an event at 10am on May 4th at CrossRoads Harley-Davidson. It is $20 for a single rider and $25 for two on a bike.
The 52 mile, police-escorted ride will begin sharply at 1:00pm and end at River City Bar & Grill (www.rivercitybarandgrillkn.com) in Lake Norman, NC. If you live along the route between Wilkesboro, Statesville, Troutman and Lake Norman; come out in your yard and wave as the bikes go by. Many of our riders are veterans; this is a great opportunity to show your appreciation.
The event will include a Live Band, Food and Beverages, Silent and Live Auction, and a 50/50 Giveaway. At last year’s event, the 50/50 winner won $800 dollars! There will also be a presentation to the “Oldest Living Veteran in the High Country,” at CrossRoads Harley-Davidson followed by even more Live Bands, presentations and a great time at River City Bar & Grill in Lake Norman, the ride’s ending location.
Come out and help us say ‘Thank you’ to the men and women that have served and are currently serving in our military!
Special Guest at CVMA Ride THIS SATURDAY
CrossRoads Harley-Davidson is pleased to honor the 'Oldest Living Veteran in the High Country' at this weekend's 5th Annual Combat Veteran's Benefit Ride and Event! Please come out and help us thank Mr. Ulysses Foster and many others for their service.
In September, Ulysses Foster will be 96 years old. A WWII Veteran and Wilkes County native, Mr. Foster served in the Army in 1945 and was stationed with the 88th Division in Italy as Military Police.
Our brave military men and women that serve our country give of themselves in many ways. Ulysses Foster was drafted after the recession hit in 1938. After spending time being trained at Fort Bragg and in Georgia, he left a young wife and family to serve in Italy for 6 months.
While overseas, Mr. Foster recalls a demolished Europe, a helpful American Red Cross and the relief of being able to come home. The time away from his young wife and missing the birth of one of his children while serving were, according to Mr. Foster, some of the most difficult sacrifices during his time in WWII.
After returning to his family, Ulysses Foster, began working for Carolina Mirror in North Wilkesboro and worked there until he retired in 1995.
When asked if he enjoyed his time oversees, Ulysses Foster responded, "Not really, but I did what I had to do."
Come out and meet this remarkable man and his wife, Verna Foster, THIS SATURDAY! Help us thank him and many others for their service to this Great Nation!
*Disclaimer - The award came from calls, inquiries and searches to the best of our abilities. We will have more presentations like this in the future. We ask that you help celebrate our findings and Mr. Foster's service. Thanks, CrossRoads H-D*

CrossRoads H-D® May Family Member of the Month
“Take time to decide what you want. Test Ride. Ask CrossRoads H-D® any questions you have. They know what they’re talking about.” – Brian Faw
A man a few words, Brian Faw of Wilkesboro, never has a lot to say, but what he says is sure to put a smile on someone’s face or answer a question when no one knew the answer. An owner of a Harley Road Glide® and Harley-Davidson® Crossbones, this young, SINGLE man, with a good job, and cute dog, knows his Harleys®. (Yes, ladies, you read that right.)
Brian learned about bikes as soon as he could hold a dirt bike up and begin riding it. His Dad always had some kind of bike. Brian begin riding a Honda and rode it for a couple years before putting bikes aside altogether to focus on work. In 2010, Brian bought his first Harley and was hooked. After that, he traded in 2012 and then bought another in 2013.
When he’s not on a Harley he likes lifting weights, running, playing the guitar and coming to CrossRoads Harley-Davidson. When asked what he thinks about CrossRoads H-D®, he answered, “They treat you lik family. They listen and they are always available to answer questions if you just take time to come down and talk to them.” Brian feels that “[CrossRoads H-D] has a very knowledgeable Parts & Accessories and Service Department, their service is excellent and trustworthy. I bring both my bikes here.”
When asked what advice Brian would give other Harley riders or people thinking about buying, Bryan said, “Take time to decide what you want. Test Ride. Ask CrossRoads H-D® any questions you have. They know what they’re talking about.”
We can’t THANK YOU enough, Brian, for being a part our CrossRoads Harley-Davidson Family®!

Meet Our CrossRoads H-D® Staff
“I enjoy meeting the new people that come in and getting to know everyone.” – Deana Smith
Walk in the store almost any day at CrossRoads Harley-Davidson and you will see a beautiful petite woman rushing around, unloading large boxes, carrying piles of new merchandise, arranging the racks of clothing, keeping Mike Lipford in line, all while maintaining a smile on her face, answering the phone and helping customers. This little spit-fire is Deana Smith and if you have not had the pleasure of meeting her, get off your couch or out of your office chair right now and come to CrossRoads Harley-Davidson Motorclothes Department right now and meet her!
Deana enjoys Harleys®, her husband Kevin even owns a V-Rod, but Deana rides Horses. In fact, when she is not at CrossRoads H-D® all of her time is spent with her horses and her goats. She loves to farm, and rides her horses as much as possible down in Love Valley. She is a wealth of information when it comes to Motorclothes (she has been with CrossRoads H-D ® for 16 years). Ask her anything!
When asked what Deana enjoys about CrossRoads Harley-Davidson she automatically answered, “The people – Both the people she works with the people that come in, they are all like family. I enjoy meeting the new people that come in and getting to know everyone.”
Deana wants to thank all of the CrossRoads Harley-Davidson Family Members for their business and loyalty! You are best! Stop by and say hello to Deana anytime!
